Ten favourite songs. Ten brand-new recordings. One unmistakeable voice.

Over the course of her career, Barbara has released more than 30 albums, but she has never recorded a full album of cover versions – until now. Available from October 9th, her brand-new studio album, Cover Story, brings together ten of her favourite songs by other artists, all of which she has never previously recorded.

From Lennon and McCartney to Jimmy Webb, The Everly Brothers, James Taylor and Nick Lowe, Cover Story finds Barbara putting her own distinctive stamp on a wonderfully varied collection of classic songs.

At once familiar and completely new, Cover Story is Barbara Dickson doing what she does best: taking a great song and making it unmistakably her own.

With ten newly recorded performances, the album is both a celebration of the songwriters and artists who have inspired her and an exciting new chapter in Barbara’s extraordinary recording career.

Whether you’ve followed Barbara’s music for decades or discovered her more recently, Cover Story is an album made to be played, enjoyed and returned to – a collection of much-loved songs interpreted by one of Britain’s most distinctive voices.

Barbara says of the release, "I’m so excited at this point in my career to have a project that has truly interested me, that is very different to what I’ve been doing these last twenty years or so. I was in India when I had the notion to make an album of songs which I had always wanted to sing but never had, or in a couple of cases, never recorded. All lovely songs from great writers and I was thrilled to ask Nick to think of a way of presenting these songs in an intimate manner, perhaps with a view to singing one or two on the road in mind as well. I think it’s lovely what he’s done with these classic songs."

The first 200 physical copies ordered will include an art card autographed by Barbara.

Please note that the album will be released on October 9, 2026 and orders made prior to this will not be dispatched until after this date.
