Barbara is supporting the fight against COVID-19 by backing the 'Run For Heroes' charity.

'Run for Heroes' was launched on Instagram in March in a bid to raise money to support NHS workers during the ongoing battle against Covid-19.

The campaign has since gone viral with over 50,000 people worldwide taking part. Within days the initial target to raise £5000 had been surpassed and the team have gradually raised the target amount which now stands at £3,500,000.00

Participants are asked to run 5 kilometres, then to donate £5 to the NHS and nominate five more people to do the same. Those taking part are invited to post pictures of themselves to their Instagram account, showing that they have run the 5k and that they have donated, before tagging a further five people.

Barbara has recently completed the challenge, which began in her home city of Edinburgh, and is encouraging others to do the same:

"I'm so pleased to be able to help support 'Run For Heroes'. NHS workers are working tirelessly around the clock in the fight against this awful virus and this is a wonderful way to give something back.
You can run (or walk) yourself and start your own little chain on Instagram (tag @Run.For.Heroes) or you can just donate direct to the charity. The money will go to 'NHS Charities Together' and will help provide well-being packs and invaluable financial support for frontline services by NHS staff and volunteers."

You can donate direct to the Run for Heroes Virgin Money page which also gives further information about how to take part and how your donations can help.
