BARBARA DICKSON - ABERDEEN MUSIC HALL
(Aberdeen Evening Express - 17th February, 2006)

'BARBARA GAVE US SONGS TO TREASURE'

A career as long and varied as Barbara Dickson's is hard to reflect in a two-hour concert.

Beginning in the 60s folk scene, finding chart success in the 70s and hitting the musical theatre stage in the 80s, it could be said that the Dunfermline lass has done it all.
Now, Barbara is back to indulge herself - and us - with the music she loves best.

A smoke-filled stage and the sound of Uilleann Pipes led into a truly Celtic rendition of The Beatles' classic Eleanor Rigby - absolutely stunning. With a new album of Beatles classics being released in May, Barbara was keen to introduce her audience to the collection.

Bob Dylan hits also received the Celtic treatment, with the captivating Don't Think Twice and Blowing In The Wind taking on a whole new sound through the innovative arrangements of musical director Neil Drinkwater.

Saluting her musical roles, Barbara performed the Evita favourite Another Suitcase In Another Hall, and I Know Him So Well from Chess.

It was in her folk roots that she found her finest moments, however, singing the songs of Scotland and Ireland.
Songs including Fine Flowers In The Valley and the Eriskay Love Song were reborn, and we cherished every magical moment.
