QUESTION: Would a tour in the USA ever be considered? (Even just in major cities, such as New York, Cleveland, Los Angeles, etc?)
(from Joe Muscolo, Campbell, Ohio, USA)
BARBARA: I'd love to tour in the US, but I've never been invited as my fan base has always been concentrated in Europe and I've never launched a career in America. If there is anyone who would like to bring me and a select band over to the States, I'd love it!!! Maybe for a festival or two?
QUESTION: What would you consider is the proudest moment of your career so far?
(from Rob Cope, Stoke-on-Trent)
BARBARA: I have many proud moments in my career. Having a No.1 record with Elaine Paige was lovely and also winning my two Olivier Awards for my work in the theatre. I feel that more is to come, and I always look to the future. Being made OBE in 2002 was fantastic also!
QUESTION: Many of your early albums, particularly 'Sweet Oasis', seem to be extremely popular - would you ever consider buying the rights and re-releasing them?
(from Jennie Garth, Ipswich)
BARBARA: I cannot buy the rights for my old albums because the record companies, Polygram and Sony still make money from selling them themselves and wouldn't sell the tapes to me. I own most of my recordings post 1982, however.
QUESTION: If you were approached by the producers, would you return to the role of Mrs Johnstone in 'Blood Brothers'?
(from Stuart Phillips, Stonehouse, Lanarkshire)
BARBARA: I never shut the door on any opportunity and loved playing Mrs Johnstone again in 2001 at the Liverpool Empire, so that's fairly recent. I love Blood Brothers and enjoy being part of it. I would not return to the London production however and would prefer being in a particular production for a short time.
QUESTION: If you could go back, is there anything about your career that you would change?
(from Paula Mortemore, Ulverston, Cumbria)
BARBARA: There is nothing I would change in my career. I have been very successful and immensely happy doing a wonderful job.
QUESTION: Dear Barbara, you have had hit singles, albums, a number one song and a successful acting career - do you have any ambitions still unfulfilled? Thanks
(from Jack McKenzie, Leven Fife)
BARBARA: I would really like to be in another feature film and to do more TV drama. I really loved my small experience of them and would like to do interesting drama for both the big and little screen in the future.
